Thiru Theodore Baskaran speaks on interaction between literature and cinema, Tamil literary works that have been adapted to the screen, the aesthetical issues in such an adaptation and the difficulties.
S.Theodore Baskaran. Author of 'The Eye of the Serpent - An Introduction to Tamil CInema' which won the Swarnakamal award from the President of India in 1997. His earlier book ‘The Message Bearers’ (1981) is considered a pioneering work in the field of popular culture. He was a member of the Jury for the National Film awards in 2003. He was a Hughs Visiting Scholar in the University of Michigan in 2001 and taught a course on Tamil cinema. Baskaran writes on cinema both in Tamil and English.
